Claire Danes

Although it’s not really my style to post a million photos of red carpet events, I felt that this was a completely worthy cause.. Can we talk about Claire Danes?
Her Armani Privé dress sparkled as bright as her smile last night at the 2010 Emmy Awards. Her lashes looked particularly full, too (Claire–LATISSE commercials?? Leave that to Brooke Shields please! You are too talented!).
Honestly though, Claire’s dress fit her incredibly well. Talk about knowing how to dress for your body. The whole look is flawless and was so appropriate for the weather & event. It got me thinking about all of the times I’ve seen her and thought “wow, never would have guessed that she was so stylish. Here is a look at some of my favorite “Claire moments”.

(Just thought this was cute. Celebrating with her adorable fiancé (or husband) Hugh Dancey.)

She can mix a classic shape with a bold stripe, or modernize a 20’s flapper style with a gorgeous print in a color that truly suits her skin, all while looking fresh and clean-faced.
She’s not afraid to experiment with bold prints again, but looks equally as stunning in a stark, paternless and shapeless frock.

How cute that they match in an unkempt way? She’s not fussy about going out in public with a full face of makeup and a costume on, which makes her seem THAT much cooler.
Cheers, Claire. She is most certainly one to watch!

Kate as Brigitte. Absolutely gorgeous!

Cover Your Knees

Thankfully this season there are a lot more options for over-the-knee boots. I remember looking for a reasonably priced pair last year and there were none to be found. I’m already prepared this year– I just got my first pair on Piperlime and I have no plans to stop (well at least until the well runs dry).

I’m still not a huge fan of the high-heeled over-the-knee look, but I think eventually I’ll stop thinking about Pretty Woman when I see them and find a way to make them work in my own wardrobe.

Here are some of my favorites this season, with an idea of how I’d wear them.

**Wednesday at the office. A mixture of ladylike bouclé and pearls with the boyish striped shirt and the tight ponte pant to show off the legs. The boot finishes the look with a classic, preppy style.
Tory Burch Boots

**Saturdays in the city. Laid back western style with a mix of leather colors and finishes.
Elizabeth and James Boots

**Cocktails with the girls. Funky and fresh in neutrals with some punchy bangles and playful girly ring. Alice + Olivia skirt looks great on the dancefloor!
Ralph Lauren Boots

Biker Babe

Now that the weather seems to be getting a bit cooler (I say that with my fingers crossed–yes, it’s tough to type this way), I feel like it’s the perfect time to ditch my car on weekends in favor of my bicycle. With some help, I’m turning my road bike into a little fashion statement. The Sartorialist loves to photograph women on bicycle, and I’ve noticed that it’s much hipper now than ever before, so I’d better get to it..

These photos represent the lady I’d like to be on my bicycle. Effortlessly cool.

I bought the Essie color, Jazz, today at J.Crew. Delicious!

This is Anthropologie’s main housewares page. I got the handmade plates with an array of French sayings/paintings. They are gorgeous and I want to find a way to display them.. Thoughts?

Every Girl’s Dream

I grew up unaware of Eloise… I remember our first meeting- I was 17, walking through a bookshop, and spotted one of the brightly colored books. It took me no more than 5 seconds of flipping through to fall in love with her. Much like Hello Kitty, I think her story is timeless. It doesn’t matter what age we are– we are always allowed to fantasize about fun luxuries, and I think Eloise brings that out in all of us. Well, with the help of Betsey Johnson, girly girl extraordinaire, the Park Plaza in NYC has created a suite just for those who want to indulge in all things Eloise.

It comes with a hefty price tag, but it might just be worth it!
